The 4MOST consortium consists of 17 institutes in Germany, Australia, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK, under leadership of the Leibniz-Institut für Astrophysik Potsdam (AIP).

The 4MOST consortium has a Code of Conduct, Ombudspersons, and a Project Culture Working Group.

4MOST is a wide-field, high-multiplex, fibre-fed, optical spectroscopic survey facility mounted on the 4-m-class telescope VISTA at the Paranal Observatory of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile. It is entirely dedicated to observations for ESO Public Surveys.

The data will be available at public data archives hosted by AIP and ESO.
